Yo, I got a G15 for 89$!!!
But anyways, im after an applet to show Ambient/CPU temps, CPU Load and Memory Load, do you have any?
I found one which was shitty, found another which takes veriables from speedfan, which means I have to make it myself

Crikey! I didn't know what a G15 was so I looked it up and it seems to be a keyboard with a display? What does it do?

it can display many things. from frags etc, to cpu temp and many other things.

there are lots of different 3rd party mods for it, i dont know about in australia, but some isps' in america have programmes that display how much youve downloaded that month (similar to internodes mum app, but for the keyboard)

the thing i mainly use my g15s screen for is performance monitor aka cpu and ram usage,

ohh and pete look for the G15 Gaming Keyboard, its what i have its slightly better in my opinion

Its the same one lol, The box mine came is stated G15 Gaming Keyboard

Anyways, I got the app I wanted, made it myself with LCD Studio, only the data it draws requires speedfan to run aswell as LCD Studio...
LCD Studio runs the app on the keyboard lcd, which draws data from speedfan *or any other program you want it to*

LCD Studio used to have shocking sys resource uses (1gb ram to tell me a clock 8-)) dono what its like now,

and go to the logitech website

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/404/&cl=au,en?prodcrid=404

It uses 20MB ram + 10MB for speedfan
But WTF?!
My box says G15 Gaming Keyboard, ohwell, I rather the one I have, cause i wouldn't wanna risk snapping a flip up LCD, but ohwell, logitechs fault for saying I have the gaming keyboard
I still have as many G keys as the gaming one though, I think...
6 programmable, per mode, 3 modes, totals 18 keys, is it the same for the gaming one?

the screen is a display for a mini BSD or linux
that has invaded the keyboards to dominate the world!!! muahahahahaha!!!!
or at least the pitiful fools that thought that they needed an extra 30MiB
wasted on a tiny LCD that they will spend too much time admiring to notice
the monitor, or the fact that they spent ~$90 on a gimmick

lol how is a device that tells you if your CPU is being rapped or RAM, and tells you how hot your system is running, a gimmick?
and the fact its a decent keyboard with liquid channels so the water/liquids drain away from the electronics and not damage the keyboard, and you can see what your typing in the dark, plus the fact its just like shear quality of the product that wtf pwns any other keyboard

Toby, I already have bars that tell me what's going on with my cpu, battery, memory and swapspace all on my screen.
And that my thinkpad keyboard can light up in the dark too.
and it can resist water damage.

all for a price of ~$20 that it cost the manufacturer, and it uses about 10kiB, count em, 10 kilobytes of memory, all provided by its
own microcontroller, that can deal sufficient pwnage to other keyboard microcontrollers in terms of superior multiple keypress detection.

Oh, and it's prononced 'rape', 'a' sounds like 'cake' and the e is pronounced as in 'perchlorate'

lul, 10kb, how very wrong u are

Whats 10kb?.. im lost

anyway, i dont think anyone actualy needs to see their cpu and ram usage at all times.. if you feel your computer is lagging, open task manager so you can see what process is lagging it, looking at your keyboard to tell you what you already know isnt going to help in the slightest
but it is always cool to have a cool keyboard. Personaly, i'd spent the money on random little addons (USB sticks, external harddrives, solid sate drive, TV tuner, etc) rather than a keyboard, either way i would rarely use the features they give me

is that the fail thing where you double tap, hold, tap fast, etc all do different things?

or what do you mean by 6*3 and 18*3? how many physical keys does each have?

jtmiller

he has 6 physical keys that can each have three programed levels in em (level 1 level 2 and level 3 you change via three buttons) and on mine i have 18 physical keys.

Eh, I wouldn't miens the later model...
And yes, I checked with logitech and the box it came in, mine is infact a G15 Gaming Keyboard, but its the 2008 version, the flip up LCD is 2006/2007 *depends which one you own*
So I rather my later version with the identical features for the identical price XD

key count is a feature for keyboards, if JT's has more than one of its features is more keys

why did logitech go backwards with their new model :\, i definately wouldve liked more keys, flip up screen doesnt realy matter to me either way (although toby's one looks better)

JT: by flip, does it like fold into that cut out section near the top? if so, that would be heaps good for protection when taking it to LAN's and what not (to stop scratches)

toby
47 days ago0
By flip it folds in and out yes, good for no protection, but to easy to break even accidently

weesals
47 days ago0
how would it break?
it would stay open most of the time, so the hinge would hardly get a workout and i dont think you could snap it by pushing it hard unless you actualy tried to beak it, also ive never accidentaly dropped my hand or something heavy along the top of my keyboard that would cause it to snap off

anyway desktop keyboards FTL, we need laptop keyboards with a large touchscreen LCD across the top of the keyboard, and an uber long touchpad that goes from one side to the other
and touchscreen LCD's that can double as a Tablet PC
and a little LCD on the outside of the screen like that ASUS had that tell you what songs playing n stuff
:D
